The Week and a Superman Movie Review

Hello everyone, it’s me again. It’s been a pretty boring week for me. Work’s been the same, but I have now been to almost all the company locations except the farthest out ones. I did see the new Superman movie last weekend, I didn’t talk about it last post because I didn’t have time. I’ll talk a bit about it now, but before that

[*Spoilers Start*]

I thought it was an interesting movie. I’ve never really seen or heard of Kal-El’s parents being portrayed as telling him to take over the planet. The fact that part of the recording was corrupted was just dying for someone to either fix it or fake it to make things worse. Of course, most of Superman’s story is about his humanity and how he sees himself as human over being Kryptonian. He even straight out said it when confronting Lex. Superman is the mask and Clark is how he sees himself. This is interesting as Batman is the opposite. In Batman Beyond, someone tries to make Bruce think he’s crazy, but Bruce knows it’s not his subconscious speaking because it called him Bruce. He implies that he calls himself Batman in his head.

Moving on, Krypto being an untrained menace really makes the movie amusing. That Krypto is a cause or mitigating factor of most of the issues throughout the movie, makes it great that Clark uses him to help defeat Ultraman. Of course, Kara being a drunk party girl is an interesting take, but we’ll have to see where that goes.

Ultraman being a Superman clone, yeah, I could tell just as soon as Lex and his crew just straight up walked into the Fortress of Solitude. I mean really, the One character who wears a mask and doesn’t speak for the whole movie, even if I didn’t already know about Bizarro, I would have thought clone. Yo no est stupido.

Lex being in touch with his feelings and admitting that he’s jealous or envies Superman, seemed slightly out of character for him. Not the fact that he knows he’s jealous or envious, the fact he admits it, to Superman, in front of subordinates. Lex’s got an ego and my take on him is that he might if they were alone, but in front of others?  Not unless he was in full meltdown mode, which he wasn’t at that point in time.

Lois being about to break up with Clark was an interesting choice. I mean, she was worried about their differences, but she got over her doubts when she saw his humanity over his being an alien. Her going to his house and seeing his history there in his room, soothed her that he was as human as she was.

Guy and the Justice Gang… Lol, Nathan Fillion did a great job portraying Guy’s Ego with a slight willingness to help people. Hawkgirl was great, though it took me a second to get used to her scream when she first started to attack. Mr. Terrific, I honestly don’t know enough about the character to say much, but he was fun.

Overall, a good movie. I’ll wait and see how they do with the new DC verse.

[*End Spoilers*]

So, I actually changed a few of the stories I’m listening to. First is, like I mentioned last week, My Heroic Drabbles by sakurademonalchemist. I’ll go over the more interesting one, two or three shots that I’ve gone through. I’m not going by chapter on this one, but the name of the chapter/s.

First is A Hero’s Wings, which has two chapters. It’s a crossover with Gundam Wing, where Izuku is Heero. Interesting and has a smarter Heero. The next interesting one-shot is Cheshire. In it, Shota (Eraserhead) has a kid from a one-night stand that acts like a cat. Not much to go on, but would have been interesting to see more. Then there’s Crystalized Hope, it’s a two-shot where fem. Izuku (Hikari) actually has ice powers, but accidentally killed a cat when they manifested and hid them because the cat’s owner wanted to jail the one who did it. She would have become an figure skater if All Might hadn’t given her his powers. Again, would have liked to see more.

After that there’s Do Bad Well, which is a two-shot crossover with Yu Yu Hakusho. Izuku is Yusuke and comes back in time. Atsuko is actually his aunt and he moved in with her and changed his name after Inko died. After the main story (at least I assume so, it doesn’t actually say), he ends up before his mom dies. He decides to change things for the better. Eclipsed Heroics is a two-shot that has fem. Izuku (Hikari again) starts a hero review website Eclipse. This is one of my favorite type of fics, where Izuku actually uses his hero notes. Ferrous is a two-shot Iron Man crossover. Izuku gets an internship at Stark Industries at a young age and moves to America. It turns out he’s Tony’s son and he takes over when Tony is captured. This changes things.

Flying Free is a two-shot crossover with Dragon Ball Z. Izuku is the result of a magic(?) flower that cause Goku and Inko to hook up some time before the end of Dragon Ball when he and Chichi get married. Izuku has dream where he meets and is trained by Bardock. This leads to him and Gine being brought back. This causes changes when Raditz shows up. The final one I’ll mention is the one three-shot I’ve gotten to, Queen of Chaos. Harley Quinn is reborn as fem. Izuku and lives a normal life until All Might shoots down her dream. Then she decides to change things her way, as a supervillain. She teams up with Dabi and Toga (even helping her). She even stops the League of Villains attack on UA and saves Todoroki’s mother. I wish there had been more of this.

I’ve gotten to volume 19 of Death March in Parallel World Rhapsody. There were quite a few changes. One, Satou still can’t chant as he never got that orb in the auction. Two, Satou isn’t from Hikaru’s (Mito’s) world, but a parallel one. So, she waiting for her Satou. Three, they never had to deal with ‘his majesty’ turning into a demon as he was never even mentioned. Four, Arisa has another brother who is alive and trying to retake their kingdom. He still had to deal with the ‘Evil’ God’s offshoots the same way, so that’s something. There’s more changes, but those are the biggest ones.

I’m on volume 5 of The Accomplishments of the Duke’s Daughter. The War has started and Iris has deal with that and other things in her territory. It’s the last one from her story. Finally, I’ve started Effects and Side Effects by Pheonix Dawn. It’s a Harry Potter AU that changes after the Department of Mysteries. Voldie wants his soul fragment back and sends a potion to Draco to give to Harry that will help with that. When it’s given to Harry, he fights back and destroys the fragment, but there are side effects. The most prominent being that he’s turned into a girl. Eight witches swear themselves into his services and accidently end up married to him. This is their story. Sadly incomplete and was last updated in 2015.

Onto the quest, first is Another Little White Lie by rayrae118. This is a Star Trek AU from the most recent movies (2009). James T. Krik runs away at a young age to his aunt and uncle. This is his story as his genius gets him in and out of trouble. He even meets most of his crew early. This is the first of a set of stories and goes through the end of the first movie. The whole series is finished. I’ve actually talked about it before here.

Second is Another Path by DragonflyDream. It’s a Katekyo Hitman Reborn fic where things are very different. Tsuna has a twin who his mother treats better than him. This leads Tsuna to meet and befriend Hibari and Shoichi and early. They eventually have to flee when his twin tries to kill him. It’s very interesting, but sadly unfinished and hasn’t updated since 2022.

Third is Another Path by Selector. It’s a Worm fic, where Taylor gets another power. To be completely honest even glancing over this one I don’t remember much about it, which is something in and of itself. It has six chapters and I can’t even tell if it’s finished looking at the end of the last chapter.

Next is Another Soldier Reporting by sakurademonalchemist. This is a Katekyo Hitman Reborn and Harry Potter crossover. Lal Mirch is fem Harry and is sent back in time. I’ve talked about it before here. It’s incomplete and hasn’t been updated since 2019. After that is Another Way by ack1308. It’s a Worm AU where Marquis wasn’t captured and raised Amelia. I’ve also talked about it before here. It’s still updating but has 40 chapters so far.

Then is Answering the Call by Mirrond. It’s a My Hero Academia AU where Izuku is All for One’s son and wants to be a hero and manages to convince other villain’s kids to become heroes too. All for One decides if you can’t beat them, join them and blackmails Nezu into becoming vice principal and to make a new class for the villains’ kids. It’s definitely crack as All Might gets really weird. Incomplete, but unsure if continuing.

Finally is Appearances Can Be Deceiving by soulofdarkandlight. It’s another My Hero Academia UA, but not as cracky. After All Might offers Izuku his quirk, he goes home and finds his cousin. Said cousin doesn’t care if he’s quirkless or not and decides to do something about how he’s treated. It has 64 chapters, but sadly hasn’t updated since July 2023.

Got a few trainings and the massive company conference coming up, so it’ll be a busy week. Have a great week and… May Your Heart Be Your Guiding Key!

These Fics Almost Made Me Give Up the Quest …

Hello everyone, it’s once again time for Matt’s Wheezing Waffle (thank you Harry Potter). I’ve continued rereading Honestly Harry – The Year of the Spares (and I forgot to mention that it does have some M rated scenes) and started rereading Gun Bunny. The new chapters this week are: Better Left Unsaid, Code Geass: The Prepared Rebellion V2, Heroes Assemble!, Raptor of the 20th Ward (Thurs & Fri), Titanfall, The Healing Touch, Ranma: Happenstance Gone Right, Devil Ninja and Mauling Snarks.

I read a new fic I’d seen before, but hadn’t read called Cage by Racheakt. It’s a Worm fic where things are slightly different. Taylor’s Dad is dead instead of her Mom and it seems Legend and Hero also switched places in dying. Taylor triggers in the alley and is sent to an insane asylum. There she meets Burnscar and Labyrinth, how will things change with a Thinker Taylor?

Back to the quest, but it’s getting closer to the end as we’ve reached the longest year change between sakurademonalchemist’s fics. Last post we went through the fics last updated in 2010, but they didn’t write anything from Mar 2007 to Mar 2010. So, now we work on those fic of theirs posted before 2007; and I have to say, I’m glad their writing improved … Yeah, I had a lot of trouble getting through these, even though they have shorter chapters and also mostly unfinished. As I said, I almost gave up the quest, but I persevered (because I don’t give up!) [I’ve also just realized that I put the wrong link for Untainted Wings last post and on the archive. It has been fixed now.]

Once again ignoring the starters (first, second, next and all that jazz [name that movie!]), Deceptive Angels is a D.N.Angel fic that is crossed over with Trinity Blood. Satoshi and Daisuke end up in the Trinity Blood world and end up with the church. I don’t know much about Trinity Blood and the fic doesn’t make me want to know more (but then again it’s only three chapters long).  Mentions of future Daisuke and Satoshi relationship, Don’t Like, Don’t Read.

From what I’ve looked up, in Trinity Blood is a light novel series turned manga and anime where humans went to Mars and discovered viruses that turned them into vampires and a few into ‘angels.’ There was an apocalyptic event on earth and the Mars people had to go back and repopulate it. It’s set 900 years later.

The evil twin scenario is a crossover between Whistle and The Prince of Tennis. Whistle is a manga turned anime about a boy named Sho who loves soccer. However because he is short and is not that great at it, he transfers to a different school as he couldn’t get on the team in the first one. It’s about his getting on the team and working to become the Ace of the team.

The Prince of Tennis (which got me interested in tennis, though I don’t play much and am not that good) is a manga turned anime about Ryoma Echizen, a talented young player who is just starting middle school and plans to join the team. He is thought of as an upstart until he proves his talent by getting on the main team his first year, a previously unheard of feat. It’s the story of him and his team trying to win the Nationals.

In the fic, Sho has a twin sister who is better at soccer than him. She runs away when he says she hates him and meets Ryoma. She’s dragged back to her home, but joins the tennis team instead of staying with soccer. She decides to go to the same school as Ryoma, but hide as a boy. Will Sho and her past catch up to her? Yeah, it’s complicated and everyone acts older than they are.

The girl he could never have is a D.N.Angel fic where a transfer student comes from America. She has no interest in Dark, though he does in her. She’s also more interested in Satoshi and Krad. A ten chapter, boring fic.

Dark’s evil dare is another D.N. Angel fic that went on for a long time (42 blessedly short chapters), but was also boring. Dark dares Krad to live as a normal human in class and helps get him a body to do that. Things get weird and there’s some personality switching, but it doesn’t make it much better as things get confusing. It’s supposedly finished, but it was kinda a stupid ending. Mentions of gay relationships, but not much. Don’t Like, Don’t Read.

A brother’s love is a short little four chapter story set in the Bleach universe. What happens? Rukia has a bad dream about Hollow rabbits and Ichigo’s Hollow and Byakuya comforts her. … Yeah, it’s four very short chapters that all could have been in one (I mean she calls it a one-shot, it should only be one chapter). Nothing happens other than comforting; it’s quite frankly one of the worst stories I’ve read on here (that actually has at least mostly good grammar. There are worst ones, believe me).

The Wolfbane Alchemist is a InuYasha and Fullmetal Alchemist crossover (though the InuYasha bit is really only the first chapter). Sesshomaru’s daughter gets reborn into the FMA world as Edward’s sister. This eventually makes her brother’s half-demons. Its eight chapters are mostly about controlling their powers and the main story in FMA is barely starting where it currently is.

Power of a Forgotten Heart is a D.N.Angel fic with a fictional past of the Niwa’s and Hikari’s. One of the Niwa’s is a female fortuneteller and many Hikari’s are sent to kill her. When one is sent who doesn’t believe in what the Hikari’s say, will he hurt her or help her? It’s finished, but goes off on tangents and doesn’t always make sense.

Gundam Fight is a crossover with Gundam Wing and SD Gundam characters ending up in the G Gundam universe and the Gundam fight. SD Gundam is a silly little anime about human sized Gundams based on the ones from original series. I really wouldn’t recommend it. Anyway, the eight chapters mostly has the SD Gundams getting beat up because the original Gundams don’t like them.

That’s it for today, I’ll probably finish most of the rest next post (except for ones I skipped because I want to look into the anime/books they were based on and the compilation fics). Yeah, I don’t expect them to get any better. The new 5 Tier Raid Boss for PoGo is Giratina (Origin Forme), so be sure to go out and get him! As always, May Your Heart Be Your Guiding Key!

The Quest Will Have an End … Eventually

Hello everyone! It’s Friday again and that means its post time again. I’ve finally activated my email based on this site so please email me with questions or suggestions! I started rereading Jade Angel. The new chapters this week are: Flameheart, The Dragon’s Knight, Heroes Assemble!, Raptor of the 20th Ward, Titanfall, Celestial Worm, Mauling Snarks and Archer.

I didn’t mention it last post, but I did get started on the six in the Honestly Harry series by Captain Compass, Honestly Harry – Greengrass Days and Paradise Nights. It covers the summer between their third and fourth years. After the sudden inclusion of the Greengrass sisters into their lives last year, how will both sides adjust to each of their new situations? With Fudge’s new idea suprising everyone, escaped Death Eaters on the loose and Voldie in the shadows; how will Harry and his ladies deal with everything? Still a great story and still very much an M rated story with sexual situations.

Now, it’s onto the quest to read all of sakurademonalchemist’s stories. There will still be no, firsts, seconds or nexts (it’s a hassle). Potions and Demons is a Harry Potter and InuYasha crossover. It has Snape finding the missing (read stolen) Potter will and becomes Harry’s Guardian after fourth year. He takes Harry to Japan, where Harry meets his wife and children, the Higurashis. Harry ends up in Feudal Japan when he hides with from Fawkes in the Bone Eater’s Well. He travels with the group and helps. He gets along with Sesshoumaru and meets his son when he goes back to his era. Hints of gay Harry, but nothing really mentioned. Don’t Like, Don’t Read. Unless otherwise mentioned, all fics were last updated in 2011 and are incomplete.

Foxes and Owls is a one-shot crossover between Yu Yu Hakusho and Harry Potter. Before third year, Harry goes down Knockturn Alley and buys a strange fox. He names it Kurama. Little does he know that is the injured form of Yoko Kurama, the demon fox. Will Kurama stay with Harry and Hedwig? Who knows.

Fullmetal Gundam is a Fullmetal Alchemist and Gundam Wing crossover. It has Ed ending up in the Gundam universe after being hit with ‘red water.’ He ends up with the Gundam Pilots and stays with them for two years. When he gets back to his universe, he learns it was only minutes there. When the Pilots find their way to his universe, how will his friends keep up? All the pilots and Ed are in gay relationships, Don’t Like, Don’t Read.

(I’m just going to interrupt this by saying, that I’m not gay and I’m don’t read many stories with gay characters. I have nothing against LBGT people and their relationships, but I just don’t choose to read it. Like I always say when I mention it, you have a choice to read something or not. Don’t go after the author just because you aren’t a fan of what they’re writing. I’m reading them because of my quest and because sakura doesn’t tend to do blatant relationships overall. Felt I needed to say that.)

Child of the Wing is a Harry Potter and Gundam Wing crossover where Heero is Harry. The Wizarding World comes for Heero after the war ends and he and his friends are cast into another war. When they are forced to stay in the WW to stay out of sight, how will the WW deal with the Gundam Pilots? I think all of the Gundam Wing stories for a while will have gay Pilots, so Don’t Like, Don’t Read. (also I really don’t think the author likes Relina, she’s usually cast as a stalker).

Sun of the Moon is a Sailor Moon, Harry Potter and Slayers crossover. Harry escapes to the Japan school before fifth year and meets the Sailor Scouts and Chibiusa. When he finds out his mother wasn’t from Earth, he discovers his own powers. How will he deal with his aunt, The Dragon Spooker, along with everything?

Black Cat of Hogwarts is a Black Cat and Harry Potter crossover. Sirius’ son Niko disappears when his father was captured and is presumed dead. Train Heartnet goes to Hogwarts and befriends Harry. Harry joins Chronos and becomes XIV. How will their stories change with each other as a part of them?

Raven Talon Potter is a Maximum Ride and Harry Potter crossover. Maximum Ride is a series about the title character (Maximum ‘Max’ Ride) and her flock of family. They’re hybrid Human-Bird people who were experimented on by The School. The series deals with them escaping and dealing with The School. I’ve maybe read the first book, but it’s been a while.

In the fic, Raven (Harry) is Fang’s twin and has been held by The School for many years. Only when he meets Fang again is he able to escape and return to his original form (explained in the story). How will Raven be able to help them?

Dou’s Brother is a Harry Potter and Gundam Wing crossover where Dou is Harry’s Brother. Dou discovers Harry on assignment in Surrey and they bond over pranks. They eventually learn that Dou is Harry’s brother. How will the other Pilots handle the Wizarding World along with their own war? Another gay Pilots story. Don’t Like, Don’t Read.

Marauders and Gundams is another Harry Potter and Gundam Wing crossover. Harry escapes Grimmauld Place and meets Dou. They start a relationship (yes, they’re gay. Don’t Like, Don’t Read!) and the Pilots decide to go to Hogwarts to escape from OZ.

Gundam Senshi is Gundam Wing and Sailor Moon Crossover where Dou is Peruru, the Dream Elf. The future changes for some reason and Crystal Tokyo is lost. In order to get it back, Dou has to find the Sailor’s descendants and stop the war. As he meets the other Pilots he learns that they are the other descendants. Will they be able to bring back Crystal Tokyo? Don’t know, hasn’t gotten that far yet.

Ichigo Ichihara is a Harry Potter and xxxHolic (with Bleach slightly) crossover. xxxHolic is a manga turned anime that parallels Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles. It follows Kimihiro Watanuki and his working at Yuko Ichihara’s shop. It deals with magic and he learns that everything comes at a price.

In the fic, Vernon leaves Harry on Yuko’s lawn soon after the Dursleys find him. She raises him as her son and he gets some of her personality. He sends a copy to Hogwarts, but how long will it last? And will the Wizarding World be able to deal with the real him when the time comes?

That’s all for this week, hope you have a great weekend! I’ll remind everyone that tomorrow will have the Shiny Lotad and Castform event on PoGo. Be sure to get those research quests! See everyone Tuesday! May Your Heart Be Your Guiding Key!

The Quest and Honestly Harry (With a Little Marvel)

Hello everyone! It’s Tuesday once again and you know what that means, another post. I saw Captain Marvel over the weekend and will talk about it next post. There will most likely be a spoiler warning for it, just so everyone knows. I continued my newest quest and I think I’ve now reread all of the fics I’ve already read from them now. I also finally finished rereading Honestly Harry – The Year of the Rock and started rereading The Greatest Prank (for amusement value). The new chapters this weekend are: Black Sky, Worm – Justice For All, Relic of the Future, Headstart, Worm: More Than Meets the Eye, A Ninja Summoned, Service With a Smile, Mauling Snarks, Melody of Fire and SAO: The Eroge.

I’ll cover the only non-quest story first, Honestly Harry – The Founders Chambers by Captain Compass. It’s the third in the series and covers the second year of this Harry and his hug-buddies. Watch as he tries to find all the Founder’s Chambers while students are being attacked. And why has Ginny forgot all about the other two?

Moving on the sakurademonalchemist quest stories, the first one that was reread was – Raptor. It’s a Jurassic Park/World and Harry Potter crossover. Hagrid’s dragon egg wasn’t one at all, it was a velociraptor that becomes attached to Harry (the only one to realize what it is). It bonds with him as a familiar and when he tries to find out where it came from, he finds out about John Hammond. He helps fund the park and make it safer (set a few years before the first movie). How will a dino-happy Harry change things?

Next is Bruja, a Harry Potter and Avengers crossover. It has fem Harry becoming Hel’s chosen after the final battle. Rather than let the sheep Ministry try to control her, she asks Hel to lock her in her animagus form, a cat. After wondering around for a while, she runs into Bruce Banner and becomes his pet. It’s not until S.H.E.I.L.D. comes looking for him that anyone realizes she’s anything more than a smart cat. What will happen next?

Then there was Reaping the Cards, a Bleach and Yu-Gi-Oh! crossover. Ichigo is sent to Domino City for school after the Winter War because his school is damaged in the war. There he meets Seto, Yugi and gang. After seeing the battle between Yami Yugi and Seto over the Yugi’s grandpa’s Blue-Eyes White Dragon (Ichigo saves it), he knows something weird is going on. How will the powerless Ichigo set things on a different track?

The last of the reread stories was FateConfusion! It’s the sequel to Naruto Emiya and is a Fate/Stay Night, Naruto and Fate/Zero crossover. It has a bored Naruto deciding to go troll the Fourth Grail War by taking the survivors from the Fifth with him to interfere. It’s fun, but only three chapters. Could have been much better. Not updated since 2014.

The first of the initial read through fics is Charm School Magic. It’s a Bleach, Lyrical Nanoha and Yu-Gi-Oh! Charmers crossover. Karin finds a device (based on Charmer’s gear) and becomes a mage a few months before the start of the both series. She trains and finds other devices for Yuzu and Orihime. Eventually, Nanoha starts and she helps Nanoha on her quest. How will mages change things? Not updated since 2013.

The second fic is Circus Surprise, a Gundam Wing and Harry Potter crossover. After fourth year, Harry runs away to the circus and ends up in the same one as Trowa. Harry gets involved with the Gundam pilots and helps them out. Warning The description says it’s a Trowa/Quatre fic, but it doesn’t get that far. Don’t like, don’t read. This and all other fics from now on (except for an exception or two) were last updated in 2012.

Third was Troubles in Time, a Harry Potter and Naruto crossover. Kushina was an adopted Uzumaki and was really a time-displaced fem Harry. When she’s about to die, a ritual by Dumbles pulls her a few years into the future into an eleven year-old body. She’s going to find her way back home, but the Shinigami asks for her help getting back the Hallows in exchange for a way to contact Konoha and her husband back. Will Hogwarts be able to handle the Red Hot-Blooded Habenaro?

Next is it’s sequel, Trails of the Fox. Kushina, her family and friends are back in the Elemental Countries, but now they have get back at those who wronged Naruto while they were gone. Will having his parents back change things? Was updated last in 2013.

Following that is three-chapter side story fic for the previously mentioned fics called Pranks and Punishments. It has three side stories from Troubles in Time and Trails of the Fox. Not very long, but amusing.

Then was Cutting Moon, Eclipsed Moon, a Bleach and Lyrical Nanoha crossover. While visiting Uminari, Ichigo finds a book that turns out to be device. When he awakens it, Time and Space Administration eventually approaches him and fixes it. It’s a fun four-chapter story, which once again I wish would continue.

There were also two new stories (I mean really?), the first is The Dragon’s Knight.  It’s a KHR, Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Apocrypha crossover.  Xansus is a magus with a family crest from his mother.  When he learns he can’t inherit, he decides to join on the Red team to get the grail and make a wish.  Watch as he summons Mordred and get started.  Only the first chapter.

Second was Flameheart, a KHR and My Hero Academia crossover.  Tsuna is thought to be quirkless, but in reality his father had his quirk sealed.  He works around his and decides not to be a victim.  However, everything changes when he learns that All Might is his grandfather!  Only the first chapter.

That’s all I’ll talk about today, I’ll see all of you on Friday. Have a great week and May Your Heart Be Your Guiding Key!
