Happy Independence Day!

Hello readers and Happy Independence Day. First things first, I’m sure you’re wondering, how did things go with your supervisor, Matt? Honestly, it went better than I thought. When I asked for a meeting with him, I didn’t just go into the issue. I brought up the Spanish learning CDs and he had some suggestions. I then asked if there was anything we could do to make things easier for him because he had seemed stressed recently and I specifically mentioned something from last Wednesday.

He said that things would be slowing down for something he had been working on, but he did mention one or two things we could do if he was busy to make things less stressful. He also apologized for Wednesday and asked me to tell him if he starts acting like that again so he can work on it. I didn’t have a chance to see if this would happen over the week, but it in general was a less stressful week, though it was busy.

Something did happen yesterday that I’ll need to see what the fallout for it is. The lady who got the position over me called out yesterday and then quit because she has to focus on taking care of her mother. My supervisor’s supervisor will be out all of next week, so my supervisor or I will be doing her work. I hope the lady’s mother will be okay, but I don’t know what’s going to happen to that position. I don’t know if I was second choice or lower and as it wasn’t more than a few months ago, my interview should still be good. Basically, I don’t know if they’ll offer me the job, but I don’t see a good reason why they shouldn’t honestly. Maybe have me stay in my position for the summer as I am needed where I am, but have me take that position in the new fiscal year. We’ll see what happens, but unless my section’s director decides to say something, I won’t know at least until Monday after next when super’s super comes back.

On to what I’m listening to, I’ve finished vol 10 of Reincarnated as a Sword and on Audible and am now listening to Accomplishments of the Duke’s Daughter vol 4. It’s about Iris Armelia who is a reincarnation. However, it’s the newish trope where she’s the villainess of a game she was playing. She wakes up during her denouncement and manages to get out of it mostly unscathed. Instead of sending her to a covenant, her father, the duke, makes her acting governor of their territory. She plans to make it the best place she can, but things from the capital keep trying to take her and her family down.  She has to deal with things as they come and why does it seem like the girl who took her fiancée is behind most of it? It’s really good and all 8 volumes are on Audible (though it seems that volumes 6-8 are Iris’s mother’s story).

The only other change is that, as I said, I finished Black Sky. I decided to keep with Katekyo Hitman Reborn and am relistening to Sky Bunny by sakurademonalchemist. I’ve talked about it before here. It’s a fun KHR and Yu-Gi-Oh! Crossover where Fem Tsuna is Kaiba’s assistant. I’m actually almost finished and I’ll move onto Incandescence by the same author. It was posted in 2020, again when I wasn’t posting. It’s another KHR and Yu-Gi-Oh! Crossover, but Tsuna is Kaiba this time. Tsuna is sent back to his younger self again to relieve his life after an accident. He changes things, but ends up in an orphanage and becomes Kaiba. It’s interesting with a fem Yugi as the love interest. It’s unfinished, shocker I know, but still has 20 chaps.

As I move on the current status of the quest, I’ll be posting less this time. First is, Abraxas by Brennus. It’s a Harry Potter fic, but it gets dark, especially the closer you get to the end. Harry merges with the horcrux in his scar and this changes things drastically. Harry and Ginny get together and some aren’t happy about that. [*A warning though, there is some underage sex and religion is not represented in a nice way*]

Second is, Accidental Rewrite by sakurademonalchemist. It’s a My Hero Academia fic where Izuku gets sent back in time. He, his girlfriend (fem Shoto) and Eri (who initiated the rewind) get to change things for the better. Sadly, it’s only 7 chapters (and hasn’t been updated since 2019), but it’s still interesting.

Third is, Accidentally Undercover by Talons-and-Scales111. It’s another MHA fic, but it turns out things aren’t what they seem. Izuku and Ochaco are hit with a quirk that restores memories, but while it shouldn’t do anything, they seem to be remembering a different past then they thought they knew. It seems as if they came to UA to be undercover, but how and why? These questions are not completely answered as the fic is incomplete. However, it’s an interesting premise.

Then is Adrian Romanov by sakurademonalchemist. I’ve mentioned it before here. It’s a MCU and Harry Potter crossover where Natasha raises Harry. It’s from 2014 and hasn’t been updated since then.

Next is two stories as the next one on the list is a sequel. First is, Follow the Phoenix by Rachelme177. It’s a Harry Potter story where Albus makes better decisions for Harry after book 5 and decides to make him part of his family. Harry and Ginny get together fairly early on in this book 6 retelling.

Second is, Advance the Phoenix by Rachelme177. It’s Harry’s 7th year and he managed to change people’s fate from canon book 6. How will he defeat Voldemort? It’s great, but sadly one chapter off from being finished. The author mentioned the next chapter would be the last in 2014 and hasn’t posted on it since.

After that is, Adventures of Shirou Emiya by ShirouKuroEmiya. It’s a Fate series and Harry Potter crossover. This was rewritten since the original I read (and the writer has become a better writer). Harry is Shirou’s reincarnation and what the Potter’s did to save him, awoke Shirou’s memories. Watch as Hogwarts is changed and Shiro’s not the only one around from the Fate universe. It’s okay, but only has 8 chapters currently.

Following that is, After the Battle by Epeefencer. [*Warning of underage drinking and sex*]. After the final battle, Harry and Ginny get drunk and have sex. Molly walks in on them and is not happy. It’s a story of happiness and forgiveness and it’s finished! It’s 22 chapters of love and angst.

After the Chamber – Lords and Ladies by SeerKing comes next. It’s a Harry Potter fanfic, but things change after the Chamber of Secrets. Harry has accidentally activated old laws by defeating Voldemort three times and has become Lord Slytherin and has to marry three girls, one for each of the families, Slytherin, Peverell and Potter. It’s obvious from the way the story was going that it’s going to be Daphne, Ginny and Hermione, but there are only 11 chapters and it’s on hiatus. Luckly, Seerking posted again on another fic on Wednesday so he’s still around!

Finally is, Aftermath by ack1308. It’s a Worm fic, but things change drastically from the beginning. Taylor dies in the locker and people are looking for someone to blame. However, things are not completely as they seem and she might not be as gone as they think. It’s interesting and complete!

Manga and anime wise, I’m mostly focusing on new ones that are coming out and finishing previous season series. I’ve read a good bit of The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity in prep for the anime coming out tomorrow. It’s a awesome story about a tall blond guy in a delinquent high school and a small girl from the girl’s elite high school next door falling in love and their relationship and how it affects those around them. It’s made me cry happy tears and I’m looking forward to the anime.

I’ve also reread the manga (and caught up) to Secrets of the Silent Witch. I know it has light novels, but I haven’t gotten around it them. It’s another interesting anime coming out this season. It has a young girl who’s become one of the most powerful people in the country, but she doesn’t like interacting with people and learned how to do spells silently. She’s sent to make sure the 2nd prince isn’t killed, but she may find out more about herself and other’s along the way!

The last one I’ll talk about now is The Apothecary Diaries. The final episode of the 2nd season came out today and it was just what I wanted for it. I’ve read the manga (though it’s not yet to where the anime ends) and the light novel through vol 4, which is where the anime ended. It’s a great story about a teenage girl who was trained as an apothecary by her father in old time China. She’s kidnapped and sold to the inner palace where the emperor’s harem lives. She’s just a laundry girl, but she manages to save a princess with her advice. This is the story of the mysteries and patents she has to deal with, along with a eunuch who may not be what he appears to be. It’s good and has 14 light novel volumes available here in the US.

I just realized I didn’t talk about the next manga from the Manga Club I was in last time. We went a few months without new ones, but that was when most of the ones that were dropped were. First of the new two was Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. It’s a great manga and anime (that came out last year). It’s an interesting take on a story as the MC, Frieren the elf and her party have already defeated the demon king before the story starts. Then, 50 years later when they have a reunion, Himmel the Hero dies. She realizes she hadn’t gotten to know him well and decides to get to know humans better. She eventually decides to retrace the parties steps to remember and get to ‘heaven’ in the demon king’s castle. There are a lot of flashbacks, but there is a lot of focus on the present and her current party. There’s even some time travel in it and honestly seems like more will come at some point. The manga’s on hiatus and a second season hasn’t been announced, but I’m looking forward to it.

The second one is, Jujitsu Kaisen. I’ll be completely honest with you that I haven’t read much of this. Based on my manga tracker, I got to chapter 60 of a finished 271 and I’ve never watched the anime. Yuuji, a high schooler, ends up possessed by an ancient curse Sukuna. He contains it, but it’s only a part of the curse. He ends up at a high school where he’s to learn how to fight curses. It’s not that I’m uninterested, I just haven’t gotten around to it. Last set of manga from the club next time.

Game wise, last weekend was PoGo’s ninth anniversary and I played. I got most of the special mons and the ones I didn’t have, but I didn’t get many shinnies as I was having phone problems for the first few hours and had other things to do for other parts. So for everyone out there reading, May Your Heart be Your Guiding Key!

I Kept My Promise … Don’t Keep Your Distance (or I Posted Again!)

So, like the title says, I actually managed to write another post when I wanted to. Yay! As I start this post on Thursday, I am wearing my shirt with the KH quote like I said I would. Matt, you say, that’s great, but what’s happened for you this week?

At work, my supervisor is still being a pain. Yesterday, it was more so, enough so I talked with my previously mentioned supervisor’s supervisor today. My supervisor is off for today and tomorrow, but that isn’t really why I decided to talk to her. What made up my mind was my church’s service yesterday. The readings were pointing me that way, but the 2nd hymn had the words “Oft to every man and nation, Comes the moment to decide, In the strife of Truth with falsehood, For the good or evil side”. There was more to it, but I decided that for myself and the others who had to work under him, I needed to say something.

Did I go into the meeting and lambast him? No, if I had gone in wishing evil to him in my heart, I might have, but that’s not who I am and not how it went. I brought it to her that he was doing too many things and is stressed and it’s affecting his work relationships. I said that while I am going to talk to him on Monday when he gets back, I wanted her to know so she can also support him in fixing the causes of the stress. We talked for a good hour or so about what’s been going on from my point of view and some things I was told by a co-worker (with her permission). I didn’t accuse, I didn’t blame, I wanted to help.

She listened and let me know some of the things I had mentioned were things that they (the two of them) had talked about in their meetings (the concepts and background, like micromanaging). I will talk to him on Monday (not that I’m looking forward to it), so that’s something I’ll talk about next post. So, look forward to it or not, we’ll see what happens. (Friday was very busy, but more relaxed without him around.)

Matt, if you were so annoyed as demonstrated by last weeks post, why did you go this route? Because my choice in church was to do this in as loving a way as possible. Pragmatically, being calm and logical to a potentially angry outburst make you look better because people are most likely so side with you, correct? Me going into that meeting or the one on Monday being accusing and blaming, will get me nowhere except causing issues. So, I’m going to get my slightly frayed control over my anger back under it and be cool and calm.

Also, I asked about the courses and she had talked to the department director about it, but they wanted more information about why those courses (which was in the original email about this subject). I understand, they’re very busy and an email from month’s ago, wouldn’t be their top remembrance priority. I won’t get a Spanish course, but they’ll buy me a Spanish learning CD set. Which, to be completely honest, I already have one or two.

That might work better for one of my co-workers they did the same for as they’re constantly on the road to sites so can repeat and respond. However apparently, even if I got an actual online course, I would have to do it outside of work time. One of the reasons I wanted to have a course was to take up some of the down time I have a work, so this is better than nothing, I guess.

On to what I’m listening to, honestly, it’s mostly the same list from last time because all of them are longer listens. I’m currently on Black Sky by Umei no Mai. It was the first fanfiction I talked about on the blog. It’s currently at 343 chapters, but the author hasn’t posted since last October. Still a really good fic. Yesterday’s Tomorrow is finished, so I continued back to this one to finish my rereading (which I have now the next day, now I need a new one to replace it in the rotation).

The next change is that I’m on the 15th volume of Death March in a Parallel World Rhapsody. It’s mostly still following the web novel’s story with a few new elements along the way. I finished the 11th volume of Reborn as a Space Mercenary and my new Audible story is the 10th volume of Reincarnated as a Sword by Yuu Tanaka (also the last of the series currently available on Audible [except it’s not now, lol. The 11th volume just became available!]). I don’t think I’ve talked it yet on here, but it’s a classic isekai story where a guy dies and is reincarnated in another world. This time however, he just wakes up as a sword in the middle of nowhere. Luckily, he can view the world around him and psychically move. He eventually ends up being wielded by a Black Cat beast girl named Fran. She names him Teacher and wants to become the first Black Cat in history to evolve. It’s their story and it’s fun. There are 16 volumes out in print so plenty to read!

Finally, I forgot to mention a series I’m listening to in the rotation, My Hero School Adventure is All Wrong as Expected by storybookknight. It’s a My Hero Academia crossover with My Youth Romantic Comedy is Wrong, As I Expected. My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong, As I Expected (by Wataru Watari) is a slice of life story about Hikigaya Hachiman. He’s a loner high schooler that is a cynic about ‘youth’. He writes an essay about how it’s an illusion and degrading it, so his teacher forces him to join the Service Club. Watch as he’s forced to help students with their issues while dealing with the caustic President Yukino Yukinoshita. It’s amusing, but I don’t think I’ve read more than the first book.

In the fanfic, to prove other’s wrong and to show up the girl he confessed to (and was turned down), Hikigaya applies to UA hero school. Despite an alarming essay about heroics, caused by dealing with pain from a damaged leg (from when he saved a dog from being run over before the test), and only really helping people to copy their quirks, he gets in. Follow this cynic as he and his new friends (including many more characters from the original story) change the My Hero plot.

Moving on to my current quest, I’m planning on at least finishing all the that start with A then a space. It’s gonna be a long one. The first of these is A Family Duty by sbmcneil. It’s a short Harry/Ginny fic set after the war. Molly’s side of the family, the Prewetts had a mandate from royalty based on a prophesy that they have to keep from going the wrong way. After the war, the sign that prophesy’s time is approaching happens and Molly and those of her family more inclined to Prewett magic have to work to stop the worst from happening. Naturally, one of those is Ginny and Harry is allowed by the words of the prophesy to help. It’s a cute little story.

Second is A Family of Rogues by sakurademonalchemist. Surprisingly, I haven’t talked about it before, but it wasn’t posted until 2020 and I wasn’t posting then. It’s a crossover between Katekyo Hitman Reborn and DC comics (mostly Batman, but small mentions of the Justice League). In it, Harley and Ivy take out some yakuza and find a young fem. Tsuna is there being held hostage against her father (who has no idea she’s missing). The Gotham Rogues take care of her and she even gives them the idea to call out the fact that the evidence found by the Batman can’t be used as he’s not deputized and wondering why he’s allowing Robin out so late on school nights and in a revealing outfit. It’s amusing and I wish it had more, but I think that about most of their fics.

Next is A Friend Indeed by kb0. It’s another cute Harry/Ginny short story. I’ve talked about it before here, but it’s still a fun story I come back to every once in a while. Then there’s A Godfather’s Love by sbmcneil. It’s a sad little Harry Potter one shot. The big change is that Sirius never escapes Azkaban and Voldemort attacks it in Harry’s sixth year. Sirius is tortured and killed while Harry watches having never learned of him. This causes him to confront Dumbledore about it and change how he’s going about preparing for the battle against Vodlie. It’s of course Harry/Ginny and worth a read.

After that is A Growing Affection by Xavon Wrentaile. I’ve talked about it here, but it’s a longer Naruto story that’s Naruto/Hinata. A Hero is Built by Kyodon follows that. It’s a My Hero Academia story. It’s a story where Izuku never got OFA and is grown up and head of a tech and support company. He and Ochaco are married (she’s not a hero either as she didn’t get into the hero course as there wasn’t a Midoriya to help) and he’s kidnapped by the Shie Hassaikai. There he meets Eri and like Tony Stark, creates an armor to help get himself out. This is his story of how he becomes a hero despite his quirklessness. It’s unfortunately incomplete and has been since 2021, but there’s still 17 chapters to enjoy.

Then there’s A Hero Rises by Zabeck. It’s another My Hero Academia fic, but this one is a lot longer and is still updating (even if I’m personally a bit behind). [*Also a warning, this has explicit sex scenes, don’t read if you’re underage or aren’t interested*] Izuku’s and All Might’s first meeting goes slightly differently and it changes how All Might goes about things. It manages to set things up for Izuku to save Himiko and they eventually start going out. However, don’t think this is just a Izuku/Himiko story. No, it’s’ a Izuku/Himiko/All 1-A girls harem. It has a more morally flexable Izuku that has a more involved relationship with Tomura. It’s worth a read if you’re okay with the mentioned scenes and some, ah, kinks, that are mentioned in the tags.

Following that is, A Hunter’s Heroics by sakurademonalchemist. It’s a My Hero Academia and Hunter x Hunter crossover (that was also posted in 2020). Gon is Fem. Izuku’s (Ichigo) maternal cousin and Inko moves them to Whale Island after she sees how Ichigo is starting to be treated after being diagnosed quirkless. Ichigo follows Gon to the hunter exam and the story changes. It’s only 7 chapters and of course incomplete, but a fun fic none the less.

A Kernel of Truth by mp3.1415player is the next one. It’s a Worm fanfic set when Taylor is young. Like all of mp3.14’s fics, it’s very funny. Annette’s ancestry is very strange and that’s caused odd things to happen around Taylor. Like the monster under the bed being real and named Bob and her beating up the closet monster for not being quiet so she can go to sleep. It digresses from there. Very funny, unfortunately not complete and hasn’t updated since 2022.

Then there’s A Memorable Christmas by SailorLeia. It’s a Sailor Moon fic set during Sailor Moon R. It’s a Serena/Darien fic set during Christmas. Darien hasn’t remembered that he’s Tuxedo Mask and Usagi and the others are doing their best to remind him and get the two together. However, twins Ann and Alan won’t make it easy. It’s fun and complete!

To follow is A New Beginning by Breanie. It’s the sequel to A Different Beginning and it follows Harry and the others through their seventh year and beyond. It’s a Harry/Ginny story and worth reading. Then, A New Hero by Platinumsabr. It’s a Rosario + Vampire and slight Ben 10 crossover. I mainly read this because of one of their other fics that I’ve talked about on here before, Here in My Arms. This is only one chapter, but more were expected. The author hasn’t posted anything since 2017.

After that is A New Journey by Texas Longhorn. It’s a Pokémon fic where Ash wins at the Sinnoh tournament and becomes the Champion. Then, he’s offered the chance to become the Pokémon Master. However, before he can face the current one for the title, he has to catch all the Pokémon from the four regions. Misty joins him on his journey and their relationship evolves. It’s an interesting fic and is still updating.

Then A New Life by Serena530 follows. It’s a Harry Potter and Sailor Moon crossover. It starts off on a sad note as Ginny dies as well in the final battle. In the aftermath, Harry learns that he isn’t really the son of James and Lily. It turns out he’s really Japanese and his current looks are because of a disguise spell Dumbles put on him. After falling out with Ron and Hermione, he decides to take up his real name and go to Japan to learn about his real culture. So Mamoru Chiba goes to Japan and meets a certain dango-haired young girl. It’s interesting, but incomplete. It was last updated in February.

Next is what I call the A Not So Story trilogy. First is A Not So Story – Sirius Catches Up by Captain Compass. It’s a Harry Potter one-shot parody. Sirius escapes, but things are very different. Including singing gondolas, Snape in MLP pajamas and all you can eat haggis. It’s amusing.

Second is A Not So Story – The Fourth Champion by Captain Compass. It’s a Harry Potter short story parody about what would happen if Harry had declared Tom Riddle as his substitute. Silliness ensues. Third and finally is A Not So Story x The Graveyard by Captain Compass. Another one-shot parody where Harry and Cedric play rock, paper scissors to decide who will take the cup and they keep on tying. ‘Moody’ is sent to fix the issues and there is a very different outcome.

After that is A Place in My Dreams by SeerKing. It’s a Sword Art Online and Campione crossover. Set after the Campione story is over, Kirito defeats Kayaba Akihiko like he does in the series. However, the battle has a second stage as Kayaba is backed by a god. In slaying him, Kirito becomes a Campione. This is about how he discovers his powers and deals with the Japanese magic association. It’s still being updated, but irregularly as it’s not on SeerKing’s scheduled updates, not that he’s updated in a month and half.

A Protector’s Pride by NeoRyu777, which I’ve talked about before here, is next. It’s a Bleach fic where Ichigo deals with his inner hollow before the Vizards come to him. They decide to battle every two weeks and whoever wins is in control until the next battle. It’s finished, but the author didn’t end up writing the sequel he wanted to. The outline for it is on the last chapter and he should be publishing his first book this year.

Followed by A Push in the Right Direction by sbmcneil. It’s a cute little Harry/Ginny one-shot. Harry has trouble being romantic because of his past, but Ginny helps him figure it out. Worth a read. Then there’s, A Rain Cloud in a Stormy Sky by AmberPaladin. It’s a Harry Potter and Katekyo Hitman Reborn crossover. Fem. Harry, Ivy-Rose, runs away after her fourth year. She ends up working for the Varia after Xanxus is frozen. Then, she accidentally becomes the Cloud officer. It’s 17 chapters but hasn’t been updated since 2021.

Getting closer to the end there’s, A Ripple in the Pattern by Liam G. It’s a Bleach and Wheel of Time crossover. Ichigo is sent by the Reio to the world of Wheel of Time to fix one of his oldest mistakes. He’s sent to the White Tower around the time Ewgene and company arrive. Things change from there. The author has stopped writing since 2023 and if they come back will rewrite them.

One I’ve mentioned before during this authors quest, A Second Chance by sakurademonalchemist. Here is where I first talked about it. It’s a Harry Potter and Rosario + Vampire crossover. Harry decides to go to Youkai Academy before 5th year. It’s only three chapters and hasn’t updated since 2013.

A My Hero Academia one-shot is next, A Secret Torch by Clouds (myheadinthecoudsnotcomingdown). A reporter finds out about One for All and Izuku has to deal with the fallout. It’s interesting. A Harry Potter short story follows, A Set Up Gone Wrong by jojor99. In it Harry didn’t go to Hogwarts and meets Ginny when she’s tricked into going to a Ministry dinner. It’s fun, complete and has 12 chapters.

Then there’s a Star Wars time travel story called A Sith’s Second Chance by VFSNAKE. After he dies, Vader wakes up on Naboo at the beginning of Episode 1. He decides to change things for the better. It’s an great story, but not for those who are Obi-Wan fans.

Next is a prequel to the actual next story Throw a Chair Through a Window and Call It a Day by jaded_ghoster. It’s a My Hero Academia story where Aizawa is put in charge of UA for a week. He makes Izuku his secretary and chaos ensues. It’s sequel, A Slight Emotional Manipulation of Peers by jaded_ghoster, is after Aizawa is now the vice-principial and more chaos happens. It’s 5 chapters and was updated last month.

Then there’s a Harry Potter three-shot, A Smarter Hunt by kb0. Harry decides to finish the war in a different way. He goes to hire the goblins to find the Horcruxes and hunt the Death Eaters. It goes well.

The next is a set of stories in the same Harry Potter world. While only the first one is one in the original list, the other two stories were in the same folder so I did them together. First is A Sovereign Summer by DukeBrymin. Harry goes to the Burrow at the beginning of book 6 and finds himself falling in love with Ginny. Second, Like a Queen by DukeBrymin (and the original story) Harry tells Ginny he would ‘treat her like a queen’ when she goes to meet Dean on the train going to Hogwarts in the 6th book. She has to decide who she’ll go out with. The third and final one is, A Princely Sum by DukeBrymin. It’s Christmas of the 6th book and the twins decide to help their sister’s boyfriend with a problem he has. It’s very funny and they’re all worth a read.

The next I’ve talked about before here. It’s A Tale of Two Swords by sakurademonalchemist. It’s a Harry Potter, Fate series and Hobbit crossover. Fem Harry pulls out Caliburn instead of the Sword of Gryffindor and things change. It’s incomplete (of course) and hasn’t been updated since 2018.

The next one is in the middle of a series I’ve already talked out. It’s the Honestly Harry Series by Captain Compass. The first one is, Honestly Harry – Getting to Hogwarts. I’ve talked about it before here. Hagrid takes Harry to Hogwarts instead of staying the night at the shack. Things change a lot and as a warning has underage messing around being pushed by magic. For the parts we’re talking about it’s a Harry/Ginny/Hermione story. Second is Honestly Harry – Year of the Rock. I talked about it before, here. It follows the first year of the three and the interesting things that happen. Third is Honestly Harry – The Founder’s Chambers. I talk about this one and the next one here. It tells the second year of the three. The actual one on the list happens in the middle of this fic during Christmas. It’s called A Very Granger Christmas by Captain Compass. [*It’s rated M for a reason, don’t like, don’t read*] Something has happened to Ginny, so she doesn’t remember them. So, Harry and Hermione go to her house for Christmas.

Next is another series, this one is A Very Special Series by Epeefencer. They’re all Harry Potter one-shots. The first one is, A Very Special Christmas by Epeefencer. At ten, Harry wishes for a happy Christmas and ends up at the Weasleys. Afterwards, Harry goes back to the Dursleys when he to sleep. Second is A Very Special Birthday by Epeefencer. Harry and Ginny wish to see each other on his birthday and he ends up there again. Third is A Very Special Birthday II – Ginny’s Birthday by Epeefencer. Harry ends up there again for Ginny’s birthday. But, something is different. Fourth is A Very Special Day: The Day After Ginny’s Birthday by Epeefencer. Harry actually stays the night after Ginny’s birthday and this is the aftermath. Fifth is A Very Special Day: Going to Hogwarts by Epeefencer. It tells the story of Harry going to Hogwarts without Ginny. Or is he? Finally is A Very Special Day: Attending Hogwarts by Epeefencer. It tells the story of Harry and Ginny’s first day at Hogwarts. They’re a fun set of stories.

The final story for today is A Young Girl’s Delinquency Record by Gremlin Jack. It’s a Youjo Senki fanfic. Tanya doesn’t get the stand down order and she and the other’s stop the Francois from evacuating. However, Tanya blows up the Type 95 and destroys part of a city. She’s arrested and eventually tried by several countries for war crimes. She escapes and has to make her own way in the world. Eventually, Visha finds her way back to her and several other members of the 203rd follow. Watch as they change the world. It’s a long time to get there, but it’s a Tanya/Visha story. It has 37 chapters and was last updated in 2023.

Okay, so like I said I’m looking forward to the new Pokémon game in October. However, the new Digimon Game, Time Stranger, comes out earlier in October. I’m a fan of Digimon too and am looking forward to it!

I’ll keep you guys (and gals) updated on the work situation, and maybe even talk about manga or anime next time. As always, May Your Heart Be Your Guiding Key!

I’m Here Again, And Plan to Stay

Hello, everyone out there. As you can see, I have returned. Thanks to those who are still following! I’m sure you’re wondering, why now? Well, part of it is that I wanted to. But one reason I decided to was that someone messaged me through the website contact about a commenter on another website, telling me I should do something about them, like I had control of that website. I didn’t click on the link, because I’m not stupid, but I did look up the website and honestly the mistake was understandable. The website is mattreadingtranslations.com. Let me be clear here, similar naming aside, I have nothing to do with that website. I don’t have the time, inclination, or skills to translate anything from another language. I have some knowledge of Spanish, French and Japanese and very little German from classes and reading/watching many stories, but definitely not enough to translate. I enjoy the fruits of those who do translate but am not one of them. Now that I know of this website, I might at some point look into what he’s translating, but not currently.

Moving on, things are mostly the same with me. I’m still in the same position at work. The position I didn’t get in my department opened up because the person who got it over me left, for no reason that those of us who weren’t there at the time have been told. Well, Matt, you ask, did you apply again? Yes, yes, I did. And as mentioned I didn’t get it, again. I did a lot better in the interview, and I know because my interviewer, my supervisor’s supervisor, told me so, but I didn’t get it because they ‘decided to go in a different direction’. From my few interactions with the lady who got it, the different direction is that she can speak Spanish fluently and I can’t.

Am I thrilled about this? No, I’m not. I’ve indicated my willingness to learn Spanish, in fact, I had been working with the same supervisor about my work paying for a class so I can relearn Spanish or even get a basic computer proficiency certification. The third option I had, which I’m not going to mention other than I would have been able to teach people a skill, fell apart when I found and mentioned that the paperwork I was filling out said I had to teach 10 people a year or potentially lose my license to teach them. We don’t have 10 people a year to teach this skill, sometimes we don’t even have one. So it was dropped.

After this, I was busy, but a month or so ago I sent an email asking them about the other two and they said they’d look into it, but I haven’t heard anything. Quite frankly, I’m pretty fed up with the lot of them as my supervisor is also being very nitpicky. He gets annoyed when I even seem to be telling my newest coworker (in my same position) information or suggestions because he wants her to make her own mistakes. One day my coworker and I were doing a certain job and similar things showed up near when I was leaving and I jokingly said she could do them if she finished what we were working on after I left. When I was mentioning where certain things were in the next morning, as both me and my supervisor had to be out for the day, he came in and blasted me for what I was saying and for telling her to do more the day before, right in front of her. (To be clear, she knew it was a joke and told me she was the one who told him what I had said as a joke, also in a joking tone, the day before and was very annoyed he took it out on me). I walked away and he and I didn’t talk except about work things for the rest of the day and I’ve never mentioned it again.

He seems to get angry with me whenever I do something that infringes on his position or I use knowledge that I gained when I had to do things for him while he was off to solve issues when he’s doing things away from the office. For example, when doing my job, I found a discrepancy, I knew he would be away for a few hours, so I went to someone who had paperwork that he to given them to see if I could find out what went wrong. As I’ve done this before, she didn’t bat an eye at it and in looking at the paperwork I found he had made the mistake. She gave me the paperwork, so he could fix the issue when he got back. So, I let him know that I found an issue and he told me to put it on his desk and so I put both paperwork on his desk. When he got back, he got angry at me that I had went to the other person and gotten the paperwork. What I got from it was that he was angry that I found a mistake he had made. A relative mentioned that he may be afraid I’m trying to take his job. I don’t want his job, just a better paying position, to not have to be on eggshells to see how he’s feeling that day and to not have to deliberately not do things I can do to make him feel better.

To be frankly honest, I’m getting tired of my treatment there. I’m only even there and not seriously looking for a new job because the summer is the busiest time in my position and I’m not heartless enough to bail on them in the middle of that. My relatives have been pushing for me to get a new job for a while now, but I have my pride, in that I won’t leave until it won’t cause a huge problem. If things get better (as in I actually get a new position I apply for, not that there are currently any available that are worth my time or I am qualified for and/or my supervisor stops being overbearing), I may stay but that’s not likely.

For those of you wondering, but Matt, what if a coworker finds this blog. I laugh and say, not likely, I’m following my work’s Facebook page, but I’m not Facebook friends with any coworker. I’m fairly sure that the link on my profile to this page has always been friends only, but I’ve just made sure it will be from now on and I’m fairly sure none of them is subscribed to the blog. If someone at work already knows about it and comes here to see my rant, then come what may. I’ve only aired my opinions and not said anything indicating my job, position or names of anyone involved.

Okay, moving on from That, I’m still working on my quest and I’ve actually reached the Rs now. Of course, the next three letters will take a while, but I’m close to ¾ths of the way done! However, what I’m listening to is first.

The one I’m currently listening to in my rotation is Reborn as a Space Mercenary: I Woke Up Piloting the Strongest Starship. It’s an audio book and I’m listening to the 11th volume and the last available on Audible. If I haven’t mentioned it before, it’s about Hiro, a Japanese salaryman who loved playing a sci-fi game where he played as a space mercenary. One day he wakes up in the cockpit of his beloved spaceship and has no idea what happened. The universe he finds himself in is similar, but different from the one of the game and he has to figure out how to survive. Space mercenary is the way to he decides to go and it follows the adventures of him and his increasing crew of beauties. It’s an amusing light novel with action and some romance. I definitely recommend it. I’ve read the webnovel too, but that was in the reading quest, so I’ll get to it eventually there.

Next is going to be Angry Harry and the Seven by Sinyk, I’ve talked about it before, here. It’s still good and an interesting Misled Dumbledore story, of course most of Sinyk’s stories have that. After that is the light novels for Death March in a Parallel World Rhapsody. I’m just using text to speech with the novels, not an audiobook. Yes, I’m comparing them as I mentioned it would. It’s, hm, lighter, so far? Like for example, in the webnovel, Satou only saves one homunculi from the Elf made dungeon and can’t save the rest. But, in the light novel, they’re all saved, but the rest go on a journey and don’t even come back up except in passing until 10 or so volumes later. The author also added a few new light novel only stories and introduced a bad guy earlier in a different form. I’m currently on volume 14 of 23 (out in the US), but we’ll see how it turns out.

After that in the rotation is Taylor Varga, an old favorite of mine. I even talk about it in my second post on this blog, here. Unfortunately, it hasn’t updated a chapter in years but I still like to get back to it every once in a while. After that is Super Gene or Super God Gene, a fan translated Korean webstory. There’s a version on Kindle Unlimited, not that I’m sure how that got there, but it exsists, but it’s also on other sites. I’m only listening to a certain point, that I’ve already read to. The rest I’ll read when I get to it on the reading quest. It’s a sci-fi fantasy where humans are interstellar, but when they get transporters working they end up in a parallel dimension (?) where tech doesn’t work other than to get back. In the other dimension, there are monsters that, when you defeat them can give you a monster soul with an ability if you’re lucky. If you eat that animal, you can get geno points and become stronger. Han Sen becomes an outcast right after he gets to his shelter in the other dimension because he attacks a shapeshifted person in the butt. This turns out to be one of the strongest people there and no one likes him after that. He accidentally finds a gem that causes monsters to evolve and manages to become very strong. Then he finds out about the 5th hidden gene, the super gene. Follow him as he becomes stronger and takes revenge on those who wrong him.

Following that is Yesterday’s Tomorrow by Umei no Mai. It’s a completed side story to Black Sky that I’m actually surprised I haven’t mentioned yet. It’s set in the 320s of Black Sky and follows Tsuna when he’s sent to the ‘future’. He immediately realizes it can’t be the future and this changes things drastically. It’s interesting for only being three chapters. Finally, another old favorite, Desperately Seeking Ranma by PixelWriter1. I first mentioned it, here. As before, the author hasn’t updated in years. In my first post I mentioned they hadn’t updated in 2 years, well that was 7 years ago now, so it’s 9 years now. They posted on their profile in 2022 pretty much saying the same thing, so we can only hope they eventually post again.

Moving on to talking about my current quest, this is going to be a longer one because I want to finish off the A’s sooner rather than later. To start off with, is A Day of Boredom also by PixelWriter1. It’s a longer Ranma ½ one-shot set after the series ended. Ranma is left completely to his own devices for a day for the first time in a long time. He heads to a park and meets a guy doing metal detecting. Intrigued, he decides to see if he can do the same thing with a new technique. This sets off a series of events that are very interesting, I definitely recommend.

Second is A Deal Made in Good Faith by sakurademonalchemist. I’ve talked about it before here. An interesting fem Harry with a Supernatural crossover.

Third is A Demon’s Curse and an Angel’s Blessing by Apex Soldier. It’s an older Naruto fic, I mean it came out in 2010 and was last updated in 2017. Yes, unfortunately it’s incomplete. In it, Naruto’s seal malfunctions when he’s young and he becomes more animalistic. Fortunately, Hinata can hm, not tame him, but he’s protective of her. It’s interesting but is unlikely to ever be completed as they haven’t posted anything since 2018.

Next is A Devil’s Bijuu by fg7dragon. It’s a Naruto & High School DxD crossover where in The Last movie Hinata kills Toneri and in his final moments he opens a rip in space that sends all the Konoha Shinobi into the High School DxD universe. They end up becoming devils and the Bijuu get their own bodies too. It’s interesting, but incomplete. It’s only 10 chapters and the author hasn’t posted on any fics since 2018.

After that is A Different Beginning by Breanie. It’s Harry Potter fanfic where the Potters survive and that changes things drastically. James wakes up after the attack and finds Lily is amnesic. Harry still goes to the Dursleys, but James gets him out once he finds out how he’s treated there. It’s a Harry/Ginny stories, but it’s a long time to get there. Oh, and Harry isn’t the only young Potter. It’s a complete 89-chapter story with sequels. A really good long read.

The next one is A Different Course by Aliandris. This is actually a discontinued fic (that wasn’t before I started my quest). It’s a My Hero Academia fic where Himiko Toga is found by Izuku before she’s too far gone and is adopted into the Midoriya family. Izuku still gets One-For-All, but decides to still act like a quirkless hero in mindset and abilities. The author discontinued to rewrite it under a new name with changes. The old fic is still up, but the new one is Family Beyond Blood.

The one after that would have been, A Distant Storm by TheBeardedOne, but I talked about is on my last post because the last fic in a series was up first. Following that is A Dragon’s Prerogative by sakurademonalchemist. This is another story that I’m surprised I haven’t mentioned before, but maybe it was posted after my sakurademonalchemist quest. It’s a crossover between High School DxD and Katekyo Hitman Reborn. Fem Tsuna is the Red Dragon Emperor and she and Vali have a thing. She even manages to help Rias. Like most of this author’s stories, it’s incomplete. There are 9 chapters and it hasn’t been updated since 2019.

Then there is A Dramatic Reading by White Squirrel. It’s a Harry Potter characters reading the books that manages to survive by putting minimal quotations from the books. It’s only the first book, but it’s worth a read. There are three sequels and the most recent was updated earlier this year!

Continuing my mentioning what we were reading for the currently defunct manga club I was in, we starting reading the next two the meeting after the last three. Both were recommend by the club leader. I had already read some of both of them an seen the animes for them. The first one was One Punch Man. Yep, he was a big fan of the background art that the author drew. One Punch Man is about Saitama. He was an ordinary salary man until he tried to defend a young boy from a monster. The defeat and the boy laughing at him he decided to train to become stronger. He did a daily workout of 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10km run for years. Now he’s so strong, he can defeat any enemy with, wouldn’t you know it, one punch. Even though there’s a Hero Association, he is unregistered and is a hero for fun so many people don’t know how strong he is. It’s an action comedy. There are two seasons of anime and I think a third season was recently announced.

The second was Youjo Senki or The Saga of Tanya the Evil. This one was from a light novel and then became a manga and anime. It’s about a Japanese salary man who was murdered by a subordinate that he had fired early that day. He talks with God or as he calls him, “Being X” who berates him for being an unbeliever. They have an argument and Being X sends him to be reborn in a new world to make him into a believer. He is reborn as a girl in world similar to pre-WWI Germany, but with magic. She enlists at young age and becomes an ace by accident in the first battle of the war. She has to deal with Being X and other Godlike beings interfering and her own delusions about things messing things up. It’s amusing. Sadly, there is only one season and a movie. However, a second season is supposedly to be released next year. Looking forward to that!

Finally, I have finally finished my planning out of the capture of all the Sakura Cards in my own fanfic. I’ve started writing again and am on chapter 5 currently. Remember I want a padding of 10 chapters before I post and I want my writing group to edit and I hope to get a little bit looked at in a few weeks.

Also, sadly, Square Enix cancelled Missing Link after months of nothing. I was very sad to hear it, but hopefully it’ll be a regular game eventually instead of a mobile game. I’m still looking forward to Pokemon Legends Z-A and surprised with the October release.

Before I say my ending phrase, I want to add one thing. I have a shirt with this phrase on it and I found it while looking through my clothes. Unfortunately, it was faded so I bought a new one. My current plan is to make sure I wear it once a week and that day I’ll start writing that week’s post. I wore it yesterday and am posting today when I finish this. So, thanks to those who continue to follow and as always – May Your Heart Be Your Guiding Key.

Anime Week (and the New Quest Continues)

Hey peoples!  It’s once again time for Matt’s ramblings!  It’s been a pretty boring week, but at least my hours are back up again.  Yay!  I’ve mostly been rereading (more like listening) to Death March web novel.  The new chapters this week are: Relic of the Future, Less Than Zero, An Essence of Silver and Steel, Mauling Snarks (Sat, Mon & Fri), The Unseen Hunt, The Rising of the Shield Heroine, Celestial Worm, Seerking’s Asylum, Ginny’s Plan, Darth Vader: Hero of Naboo, Naruto: The Game of Life, Titanfall and Taylor Varga (Omake).

I participated in the Torchic Community Day for PoGo even though I wasn’t feeling the greatest, but I still got seven shinies!  It’s raid week and tomorrow there’ll be three hours where Lapras will be available as a raid boss continually and it has a shiny chance!  I watched the new anime The Rising of the Shield Hero and was honestly not that impressed (especially with the last few episodes).  I’ve read the chapters that depict that battle and they drew out it, a lot.  Though I have to say I’m looking for to the next episode where some characters get their comeuppance (read the princess and the King)!

I also watched what’s out for the anime Wise Man’s Grandson.  It’s another transported to another world anime based off a light novel.  It has a man get reborn into a new world when he dies and is taught magic by his adopted grandfather (who is very famous, but never tells the main character).   He’s very powerful by the time he becomes 15, but he’s never taught anything about the common sense of the world.  Watch as he goes to Magic Academy and changes the world!

Finally (for this part) I watched the first season of Overlord (another anime from a light novel based on a transported person).  This one has a gamer whose favorite game is shutting down.  He’s the last of his guild around and decides to stay online until the server is shut down.  He changes a line in an NPC, saying that she’s in love with him.  When the server is shut down, he and the base are transported to a new world.  The NPC’s come to life and he is stuck as a Lich.  He investigates the world and plans to spread the name of his guild Aniz Ooal Gown so if others of his guild are there, they’ll find him.  There are now three seasons and 13 light novels out now.

I’ll do the new fanfics before the quest stories.  The author of Mauling Snarks (CmptrWz) has a new story, Hybrid Hive: Eat Shard?  It’s a Worm and Lyrical Nanoha crossover.  A broken Unison device from Belka finds Taylor triggering and finding her a good match (magically) ‘eats’ the Shard.  It’s interesting even though there are only three chapters so far.

Next, I read Overlord – Lich and Vampire by Seerking (because I was watching the anime).  It’s the same, except another guild member logs on not long before the server shuts down and is also transported with everyone.  Watch as she changes things (though not much since it’s only five chapters and hasn’t been updated since 2017).

Then, sakurademonalchemist came out with a new story (though I know it from a compliation fic), Demon Skylark.  It’s a KHR and Naruto crossover where Kyouya is reborn (lol) into Naruto Uzumaki.  He hates Konoha because it’s full of fake carnavores and he runs away to Suna.  There he meets Fem Gaara (Gaia) and they become close.  Only one chapter so far.

Onto the quest with Myrddin de Celestis, Chapter 20 is Ruby’s Fate.  It was a two-chapter RWBY and Harry Potter crossover.  Fem. Harry leaves her universe and ends up in the RWBY one.  There’s not much here, but she ends up helping them during the end of season 2.

Chapter 21 is Hidden Paths.  It was an eight-chapter Harry Potter story where after Dumbledore dies, Harry discovers that Dumbles sealed away much of his potential.  It starts coming back to him in segments.  He and Ginny train to put an end to the war.  Then Dumbles returns.  It’s okay but needs some editing.  Chapter 22 (Impossible Awakening) is a different version of the first chapter (it’s better, but darker).

Chapter 23 is GHOST.  It was a seven-chapter Harry Potter and Danny Phantom crossover.  Danny Phantom is a really great cartoon that ended too abruptly.  It’s about Danny Fenton, whose parents are ghost hunters.  They build a ghost portal, but it doesn’t work.  Danny accidentally fixes it, but becomes half ghost.  He uses his ghost form to fight and capture the ghosts.  As I said, they ended things really fast.  I wish they had continued it.

Harry almost dies saving a kid and awakens his ghost side.  He uses it to reveal the dark side of Hogwarts.  Along with finding a painting with two more founders.  It’s an okay one, but not the greatest.  Chapter 24 (Spirit of the Phantasm) is the same, but different and was started after this one.  It focuses on going to the Greengrass house first.

Chapter 25 is Time Will Tell.  It was a Harry Potter story with five chapters.  In it, Harry and Ginny have lived to a future where the war is lost.  They use an artifact to go back in time but end up in their baby bodies.  Not much, but it’s not bad.

Chapter 26 is Shifters.  I’ve read this one a while back and it was fun.  It was a twelve-chapter Harry Potter and Negima crossover.  It has Harry discovering he is a shifter after second year and can change into anyone he touches.  He fakes his death and makes a new identity (Eva from Negima) to give Ginny a friend.  They bring changes to Hogwarts.  Chapter 27 (TransShift) is a Christmas 5th year version where he doesn’t fake his death.  It’s three chapters, but no Negima crossover.

Chapter 28 is Copykitten.  It was a two-chapter Harry Potter and Naruto crossover.  It has Fem. Harry being hidden as a male from everyone (including herself).  She has mystical eyes that allow her to copy everything she sees, including spells.  Doesn’t get much past her going into the Leaky Cauldron.

Chapter 29 is Balance in the Power of Gaia.  It was a three-chapter Harry Potter story where Harry is under a spell that causes people/creatures to fall in love with him.  He rebels and ends up at the Creeveys.  It’s kinda meh in my opinon.

The last one I’ll talk about is Chapter 30, Avenge the Lost.  It was a three-chapter Harry Potter, MCU and Avengers crossover.  Harry is the brother of the Boy-Who-Lived and when Death Eaters ‘kill’ his youngest sister (she is brought back but doesn’t have control of her magic) he claims he’ll have vengeance and runs away.  He meets Black Widow and they have a brief fling.  Years later, he returns and starts taking out DEs.  It ends with Fury sending Black Widow after Harry for the Avenger Initiative.

That’s it for today.  I hope everyone has a great week and I’ll see you next week.  May Your Heart Be Your Guiding Key!

Finishing the After-quest and a Black Sky Week (With a New Side Story)

Hello readers! It’s once again time for a post! You read correctly I finished the last of the compilation fics and there are no more stories or chapters from sakurademonalchemist that I haven’t read! I mostly read more Desperately Seeking Ranma and Ashes of the Past (I’m finally getting back to rereading it to catch up). The new chapters this week were: Relic of the Future, Another Solider Reporting (Sat, Mon, Tues x2, Wed x2, Thurs), The Unseen Hunt, Black Sky (Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs & Fri), Mauling Snarks (Mon & Fri), Corpse Cleaner (Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri), Dawn of Magic (Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri), Campione of the Raging Tides, History Strongest Disciple Again?, Mending the Knots, Heroes Assemble!, Taylor Varga, Marvel’s Maelstrom, Titanfall, Gorgon and Thanatos and Kingdom Drabbles.

I’ll finish the after-quest stories first, Short Story Drabbles is the Harry Potter compilation fic. It has 227 chapters. The new stories it’s crossovered with are Hollows (a manga), Magico (a novel series), Dragon Kishidan (a manga/Anime), Little Pet Shop of Horrors (an anime and manga) and Numb3rs (an American TV series about a mathematician who helps his FBI brother).

Famgilia Drabbles is the KHR compilation fic. The new stories it’s crossovered with are Beauty and Beast (please watch a version of this if you haven’t already), Mouse (an older manga about a phantom thief), Stitch (a Movie and series about a alien experiment that lands on Earth) and Katana (a manga about a forger who can see the true form of the swords).

Stories of Fate is the Fate/Stay Night compilation fic (and the last one!). There are no new stories in the 39 chapters (because most of them have already been made into full stories). The crossovers from the non-full story chapters are: Fullmetal Alchemist, Pokémon, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Rising of the Shield Hero and Harry Potter.

When Empires Collide by Nemesis13 is a Star Wars and Code Geass crossover. Before the Zero Requiem, the Empire invades the Earth. The world unites to fight them and become a thorn in the Empire’s side. Nunnally ends up on Tatooine and befriends Luke. It’s a fun story, but not long and updated irregularly (was just updated).

Yesterday’s Tomorrow by Umei no Mai is a KHR (maybe Harry Potter later) fic that’s a companion fic to Black Sky. In Black Sky, Tsuna and friends were sent to the future, but didn’t go back soon after like they were supposed to. Tsuna can tell that this isn’t really the future as he knows he isn’t the Tenth Boss. Watch as he tries to find a way home while annoyed at his ‘future self’.

That’s it for this week, but at least I won’t mention sakurademonalchemist unless they post a new fic. Oh also, for those who didn’t know, KH3 now has a Critial Mode DLC. If you play it, prepare to die (that’s all I know as I haven’t played that one yet). Next week I’ll have seen Avengers: Endgame so be prepared for my thought on it! See you then and May Your Heart Be Your Guiding Key!

sakurademonalchemist’s Birthday and a New Series

Hello, intrepid readers. As I mentioned last post, from this post onward I will only be posting on Friday. Since last post I’ve mostly been re-listening to Desperately Seeking Ranma and Gamer of the Sword. The new chapters this week are Worm – Justice for All (2 chaps), Heroes Assemble!, Hashtag Believing is Seeing, Another Soldier Reporting, Angels and Demons, Seerking’s Asylum and Mauling Snarks.

Yesterday was apparently sakurademonalchemist’s birthday so they updated the three mentioned fics above and made two new stories that were in one of the compilation fics (it seems, haven’t gotten to them yet).

Dawn of Magic is a Harry Potter and Akatsuki no Yona (Yona of the Dawn) crossover. Akatsuki no Yuna is about a teenager named Yuna who is the daughter of a cowardly king. On her birthday, her cousin (Su-Won, who she loved) kills her father in order to take the throne. She escapes with help to find those who can help her take back her country. It has a manga series still running and had a one season anime.

In the fic, fem Harry has been reincarnated into Yona and finds Su-Won suspicious. When she figures out her father is dead, she escapes without help. It’s only one chapter so far (and I don’t know much about the other story), but it looks interesting.

Corpse Cleaner is a KHR fic, where Tsuna escapes Japan at a young age and somehow becomes a crime scene cleaner for the mafia. He doesn’t know that his dad is in the Vongola, but helps the Varia clean up their messes. He sees Hayato and hires him to help with the disposal. Also only one chapter.

I also read More Short Story Drabbles which is a Naruto version of the Bleach and Kingdom Hearts ones I mentioned last time. It’s 70 chapters long, so I’m not even gonna try and mention all the stories it’s crossovered with, just the ones I haven’t mentioned before. Dream Eater Merry (a manga about a guy who can predict dreams and a dream demon), Frozen (if you don’t know this is, what rock have you been under?) and Okami (a game series about Amaterasu [the Japanese Sun Goddess] saving Japan).

There was also Supernatural Drabbles, once again a compilation fic but for Supernatural.  It’s 42 chapters and the previously unmentioned stories are: Legion (the movie where Angels try and attack humans), The Covenant (a horror movie where the descendants of the Salem witches face their own trials) and Five Nights at Freddy’s (a jump scare game series where you are a security guard that has to survive possessed animatronics).

I also started rereading (though I’ve never read far) and rewatching (same as reading) a series called A Certain Magical Index. It’s a series about Touma Kamijou, a Level 0 esper (0 means no power, or an undetectable power) who lives in Academy City. There they foster esper powers, though he’s a very bad student. He has horrible luck and the only ‘power’ he has is to cancel out any power that touches his right hand (only his hand). He meets a young nun who clams to be a magic user, but he doesn’t believe until he meets the people after her. Follow his and her story. There are also several spin-offs.

I’ve been watching Everglow (on Youtube) play though Kingdom Hearts Chi (x) a game that’s technically before Union x, but most of the scenes have been in Union x because the player is reliving it. The game was only released for PC in Japan and is no longer available. I’m mostly watching for the scenes not yet shown in Union x about the Keyblade War. It’s the last bit of information I don’t have about Kingdom Hearts.

Nothing more this week, I hope you have a great week and I’ll see you next Friday. May Your Heart Be Your Guiding Key!

After the Quest and a Change in the Posting Schedule

Hi everyone! Sorry I didn’t post on Friday, I actually forgot and didn’t really remember until Sunday (or maybe Saturday, but not until late). Thinking about it, I’ve decided that I’ll just post on Fridays, because then I won’t have to worry about staying up late to post (I have very early mornings, not that it matters this week cause I don’t have work for the rest of it cause there’s not currently much work.) Anyway, I’ve been rereading a few of sakurademonalchemist stories (mostly listening to them), but I’ve also been rereading Ichigo Awakens, Prime Directive: Hero, Gamer of the Sword and finished rereading the Pick Up the Pieces series – Rebuild. The new chapters this past week were: Devil Ninja, Zero no Tsukaima: Saito the Onmyoji, Viridescent, Heroes Assemble!, Raptor of the 20th Ward, Titanfall, Taylor Varga (Thurs & Sun) , Unexpected Restart, An Essence of Silver and Steel, Relic of the Future, Gun Bunny, The Unseen Hunt, God Slaying Blade Works, Tsunami, Black Sky, Mauling Snarks (Omake on Wed, Normal on Fri & Mon), Another Soldier Reporting (Mon & Tues), Souls of the Heart and Service with a Smile.

Since the Quest is over, you’d think that I wouldn’t have much to talk about sakurademonalchemist for, right? Well they have another new story. Its called Hashtag Believing is Seeing. It’s a Rise of the Guardians story where Jack discovers that the Internet can allow him to interact with humans and raise the belief in himself. Thus when the Guardians pull him into their fight with Pitch, he’s not very happy. It’s fun and is two chapters now (started yesterday).

I’ve also been reading some of the compilation fics they have, so I’ll go over them. Kingdom Drabbles is a Kingdom Hearts compilation fic where stories with KH as one of the original stories that might eventually be continued are.   So far it’s has crossovers with Fate/Extra, Once Upon a Time, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Nanoha and KHR. They’re interesting, but the nine chapters only contain up to two chapters of the story.

Bleach Drabbles is much the same only for Bleach. It has crossovers for Hell Girl, Nanoha, Naruto, Harry Potter, Natsume’s Book of Friends, Supernatural, My Little Pony (though it’s not very Bleachy) and KHR. Only one of the stories in here has become a fic of its own, Reaping the Cards. It’s also the only one with three chapters.

The Twin Tides is a fic that just got an update that’s by Solvdrage. It’s a Naruto fic where Naruto has a female twin that looks out for him. It’s only three chapters now, but Solvdrage does good fics (though they usually update slowly). It’s only just on when they graduate, but it looks like it won’t be the same old teams!

sbmcneil posted a new one-shot just an hour ago called Of Splendour in the Grass. It’s a Harry Potter fic focused on Harry/Ginny during his fifth year. In it Harry and Ginny are sent on a ‘detention’ date to Hogsmeade by McGonagall. It’s a cute litte fic.

I forgot to mention it, but a little while back, they also posted another one-shot called A Godfather’s Love. It has Sirius never escaping and being killed when Voldemort invades Azkaban. Harry never knew about him until then and when he finds out it was kept from him, he finds his own help to stop Voldie. A sad fic, but not a bad one.

That’s it for the new stories, but I have a few more things to talk about. Next month the new Code Geass Movie, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection, is going to be in theaters. It’ll be playing in select theaters on May 5, 7 & 8. The 5th will be subbed and the 7th and 8th will be dubbed. You can buy tickets on the Funimation website – https://www.funimationfilms.com/.

I’ve also been watching a YouTuber – SarahKey play through KH3.   Why because I can and it’s interesting watching someone react to everything for the first time. Here is a link to her channel – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6TF2WuXLVgcP5TZVLuLf4A.

Thanks everyone for putting up with me. See you on Friday and May Your Heart Be Your Guiding Key!

The End of the Quest (Except for the Compilations

Hello everyone! There’s not much new to report on my side of the screen, but I’ve continued rereading Honestly Harry – The Year of the Spares and started reading the Pick Up the Pieces series (Take Stock and Move On). It was also the third anniversary of KHUx on Sunday!  The new chapters this weekend were: Raptor of the 20th Ward (Sat., Sun, Mon & Tues), Relic of the Future, Gun Bunny, The Unseen Hunt, Reincarnation Roulette, Tsunami, Mauling Snarks, A Smile on Your Face and a Song in Your Heart, Archer, Teeth and Claws and Taylor Varga.

I’m pretty much finished with the quest! All I have left are the compilation or sakurademonalchemist‘s ‘drabbles’ stories. Before I get into that though, they posted a new story today called Another Solider Reporting. It’s a Harry Potter and KHR crossover with Lal Mitch once again being a fem. Harry. Sometime after the end of the series, she is sent back to her pre-Hogwarts self and decides to change things. The first thing, get her and Dudley sent to a military boarding school. Only one chapter so far.

I’ll finish off their earlier stories than go onto the ones I skipped. The tale of Luna Mousey is a D.N.Angel fic where Dark’s long lost sister shows up in a friend of Satoshi’s. She’s not happy with Dark because he was the reason she was lost and helps Kard against him. Once again, short chapters and not that interesting. All of the first half of the stories were posted in 2006, unless otherwise stated.

Inuyasha’s major headache, genin from a new world! Is an InuYasha and Naruto crossover where Naruto’s team and Gaara are sent to the InuYasha world. It’s a short six chapters and very uninteresting.

The tale of Norse Deities is a Fullmetal Alchemist and Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok crossover. Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok is about the Norse God Loki being banished by Odin (for a reason he doesn’t know) to the human world in a child’s body. He is stuck that way until he collects enough evil energy (from objects and people) to return the World of the Gods. He starts up a detective agency to do this and teenage Mayura Daidouji (a mystery nut) finds the place. She joins and Loki has to solve the cases while trying not to show her that he’s a God. It doesn’t help when other Gods and Beasts keep trying to kill him on Odin’s orders, what will happen?

In the fic, Loki finds a girl (who is an original character and the daughter of an alchemist) brought to the World of the God’s by accident and in order to save her from Odin, reincarnates her as his daughter. He seals her memories into bottles that will eventually break on their own. The only problem, she ends up liking her new father’s rival, Heimdall.

It’s sequel, Travelers across dimensions is a cross between Hunter x Hunter, Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok and a brief Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles cross (that technically happened at the end of the previous fic). Heimdall and Fen (the OC) end up in the Hunter x Hunter world hunter exam and end up taking with the crew. It doesn’t really finish the hunter exam and was last updated in 2007.

Phantom versus Deity is a sequel to The tale of Luna Mousey about an OC from later on in the fic who goes to the Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok world. His nickname is Phantom Thief Loki, so the actual Loki is annoyed his name is stolen along with art pieces. The two Loki’s meet and it’s chaos. Also not very good and was updated in 2007.

The Kitsune Uchiha is a longer (with blessedly shorter chapters) fic that is a Naruto fic where there’s a middle Uchiha brother. He’s a kitsune and Sasuke follows more after him than Itachi. Things happen mostly like in the series, except the brother and his influence are around.

Kyuubi of the Nine Tails is a side fic to The Kitsune Uchiha. It tells things from the Kyuubi’s point of view. This one is almost worse than the original.

The Cursed Soul Reaper is a Bleach and Fruits Basket crossover that is overly complicated. Basically, Kyo is forced out of his body by a soul reaper and becomes four different personalities: Himself (who is reincarnated as Ichigo’s twin), a cat, a soul reaper and the cursed form becomes a Hollow (who is also in Ichigo’s twin). For some reason, this twin lives with Urahara … and that’s just the start.

Cursed Soul Reaper 2: Return to the Soul Society, Ichigo’s twin goes to the academy sometime before the start of Bleach as Urahara’s son. There’s less of a Fruits Basket crossover, but it’s still overly complicated.

Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok Vs LotR is the stupidest fic that this author has. It’s supposed to be a crossover between Loki Ragnarok and Lord of the Rings, focusing on how Loki Ragnarok characters would do in battle with Lord of the Rings characters. However, all it has are a chapter per Loki Ragnarok character with a few sentences on how they would far against characters and races from LotR. Not worth reading.

Finally, A Chance Meeting is a one-shot crossover between Fruits Basket and Sailor Moon. Kyo goes to the Sailor Moon universe and meets Luna, and two talking cats meeet. That’s literally it.

Enchanted Wizard is a Harry Potter and Enchanter manga series crossover. Enchanters is a manga series about people who make a contract with demons for powers. In the series, Haruhiko Kanou loves his childhood friend Yuka. The demon Eukanaria has just lost her contractor and wants him back. Haruhiko looks like her contractor and she looks like Yuka. The rest of the series is about Eukanaria trying to use his body to bring her contractor back.

In the fic, Harry contracts the demon Mercurio before the World Cup and becomes an Enchanter, giving him adult status in the Wizarding World. How will things change with an Enchanter Harry? It was last updated in 2011

Protector of Avalon is a crossover between Harry Potter and Avalon: Web of Magic. Avalon: Web of Magic is a twelve book series about three girls who are chosen to help save Avalon from dark forces. Emily, Adriane and Kara have to get over their differences and protect Avalon and the Web of Magic from the Dark Sorceress and others.

In the fic, Harry learns that Adriane is his cousin and goes to live with her. He finds out about Avalon and is also chosen to protect it. How will things go with a Protector now around? It was also last updated in 2011.

The Dog Called Hadrian is Beka Cooper book series and Harry Potter crossover.  Beka Cooper is a series of about Beka Cooper, a girl training to be a policewoman (though they’re called Provosts Dog’s because they work for Lord Provost). There are also magical abilities involved. I haven’t read it myself.

In the fic, Harry casts a spell and is connected to a different version of himself in the Beka Cooper world. They can see each other’s lives in dreams and can eventually communicate. How will this change things?

Half Weirn Child is a crossover between Night School and Harry Potter. The Night School manga series is about a school for the supernatural creatures. It’s about Alexius, who’s sister was the night keeper for the school and disappears. She joins to find out what happened to her.

In the fic, Remus Lupin becomes a teacher at the Night School and eventually brings Harry over too. Harry befriends Alex and decides to help her when her sister goes missing.

Arashime, the Princess of Storms is a Mai-HiME and Naruto crossover. MIYU guards Alyssa’s descendants throughout the ages, eventually leading to her saving fem. Naruto. She fakes the girl’s death and teaches her to become a good shinobi (though she has no chara). How will the world deal with a new HiME?

Hadrian Abhorsen is a crossover between the Abhorsen series and Harry Potter. The Abhorsen series is about Sabriel, who is an Abhorsen, the protectors of the living from the Dead. She goes to save her father when he is trapped and has to fight the dead. She is helped by her father’s assistant and a boy she discovers on the way.

In the fic, Lily is also an Abhorsen and thus Harry is half. When Voldie goes to kill them she uses her powers and escapes with Harry to the Old Kingdom. Sabriel is Harry’s younger half sister and he helps her on her quest. However, he is sent to Hogwarts as his younger self. How will they deal with an Abhorsen Harry?

Micheal Sword and Project Lucifer is a Supernatural and Resident Evil series crossover. Resident Evil is a series about Alice, a girl who fights against the Umbrella Company and their zombie making plans. I’ve only just seen the first movie a few days ago and it wasn’t really that interesting (at least to me).

In the fic, Sam and Dean work for the Umbrella Company and Sam is in the Vault when the virus spreads. He is only spared because he has an AI, named Gabriel, that stops him from being killed. Dean goes to save him, but the two leave before the group goes in.

Fate’s Movie Nights is a Walker omake with only one chapter. It has Bree, Dean and Sam going to save a family from a horrible fate. That’s it.

Alpha Queen is a Elfen Lied and Harry Potter crossover. Elfen Lied is a about the interactions between humans and a mutant species called Diclonius. The human’s experiment on them and Lucy escapes and is found by a boy named Kouta and a girl named Yuka. They take her in and protect her from the people after her. The manga and anime are brutal and violent, fair warning.

In the fic, Remus adopts Lucy before the government finds her and protects her from them. She grows up alongside Harry and they’re inseparable. She goes with him to Hogwarts, how will this change things? Updated in 2014.

Lastly is Charmed Daughter, a crossover between Charmed and Harry Potter. Charmed is an American TV series about three sisters who inherit Wiccan powers from their ancestors. They are the Charmed Ones and are destined to protect the world from Warlocks.

In the fic, Fem. Harry learns that the to be Charmed Ones are her cousins and goes to live with them and their Gran. She unlocks her Wiccan powers and learns all she can from Gran before her new sisters powers awaken.

That’s all of the non-drabbles fics. Thanks for putting up with my quest. See you all Friday and May Your Heart Be Your Guiding Key!

The Quest and Honestly Harry (With a Little Marvel)

Hello everyone! It’s Tuesday once again and you know what that means, another post. I saw Captain Marvel over the weekend and will talk about it next post. There will most likely be a spoiler warning for it, just so everyone knows. I continued my newest quest and I think I’ve now reread all of the fics I’ve already read from them now. I also finally finished rereading Honestly Harry – The Year of the Rock and started rereading The Greatest Prank (for amusement value). The new chapters this weekend are: Black Sky, Worm – Justice For All, Relic of the Future, Headstart, Worm: More Than Meets the Eye, A Ninja Summoned, Service With a Smile, Mauling Snarks, Melody of Fire and SAO: The Eroge.

I’ll cover the only non-quest story first, Honestly Harry – The Founders Chambers by Captain Compass. It’s the third in the series and covers the second year of this Harry and his hug-buddies. Watch as he tries to find all the Founder’s Chambers while students are being attacked. And why has Ginny forgot all about the other two?

Moving on the sakurademonalchemist quest stories, the first one that was reread was – Raptor. It’s a Jurassic Park/World and Harry Potter crossover. Hagrid’s dragon egg wasn’t one at all, it was a velociraptor that becomes attached to Harry (the only one to realize what it is). It bonds with him as a familiar and when he tries to find out where it came from, he finds out about John Hammond. He helps fund the park and make it safer (set a few years before the first movie). How will a dino-happy Harry change things?

Next is Bruja, a Harry Potter and Avengers crossover. It has fem Harry becoming Hel’s chosen after the final battle. Rather than let the sheep Ministry try to control her, she asks Hel to lock her in her animagus form, a cat. After wondering around for a while, she runs into Bruce Banner and becomes his pet. It’s not until S.H.E.I.L.D. comes looking for him that anyone realizes she’s anything more than a smart cat. What will happen next?

Then there was Reaping the Cards, a Bleach and Yu-Gi-Oh! crossover. Ichigo is sent to Domino City for school after the Winter War because his school is damaged in the war. There he meets Seto, Yugi and gang. After seeing the battle between Yami Yugi and Seto over the Yugi’s grandpa’s Blue-Eyes White Dragon (Ichigo saves it), he knows something weird is going on. How will the powerless Ichigo set things on a different track?

The last of the reread stories was FateConfusion! It’s the sequel to Naruto Emiya and is a Fate/Stay Night, Naruto and Fate/Zero crossover. It has a bored Naruto deciding to go troll the Fourth Grail War by taking the survivors from the Fifth with him to interfere. It’s fun, but only three chapters. Could have been much better. Not updated since 2014.

The first of the initial read through fics is Charm School Magic. It’s a Bleach, Lyrical Nanoha and Yu-Gi-Oh! Charmers crossover. Karin finds a device (based on Charmer’s gear) and becomes a mage a few months before the start of the both series. She trains and finds other devices for Yuzu and Orihime. Eventually, Nanoha starts and she helps Nanoha on her quest. How will mages change things? Not updated since 2013.

The second fic is Circus Surprise, a Gundam Wing and Harry Potter crossover. After fourth year, Harry runs away to the circus and ends up in the same one as Trowa. Harry gets involved with the Gundam pilots and helps them out. Warning The description says it’s a Trowa/Quatre fic, but it doesn’t get that far. Don’t like, don’t read. This and all other fics from now on (except for an exception or two) were last updated in 2012.

Third was Troubles in Time, a Harry Potter and Naruto crossover. Kushina was an adopted Uzumaki and was really a time-displaced fem Harry. When she’s about to die, a ritual by Dumbles pulls her a few years into the future into an eleven year-old body. She’s going to find her way back home, but the Shinigami asks for her help getting back the Hallows in exchange for a way to contact Konoha and her husband back. Will Hogwarts be able to handle the Red Hot-Blooded Habenaro?

Next is it’s sequel, Trails of the Fox. Kushina, her family and friends are back in the Elemental Countries, but now they have get back at those who wronged Naruto while they were gone. Will having his parents back change things? Was updated last in 2013.

Following that is three-chapter side story fic for the previously mentioned fics called Pranks and Punishments. It has three side stories from Troubles in Time and Trails of the Fox. Not very long, but amusing.

Then was Cutting Moon, Eclipsed Moon, a Bleach and Lyrical Nanoha crossover. While visiting Uminari, Ichigo finds a book that turns out to be device. When he awakens it, Time and Space Administration eventually approaches him and fixes it. It’s a fun four-chapter story, which once again I wish would continue.

There were also two new stories (I mean really?), the first is The Dragon’s Knight.  It’s a KHR, Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Apocrypha crossover.  Xansus is a magus with a family crest from his mother.  When he learns he can’t inherit, he decides to join on the Red team to get the grail and make a wish.  Watch as he summons Mordred and get started.  Only the first chapter.

Second was Flameheart, a KHR and My Hero Academia crossover.  Tsuna is thought to be quirkless, but in reality his father had his quirk sealed.  He works around his and decides not to be a victim.  However, everything changes when he learns that All Might is his grandfather!  Only the first chapter.

That’s all I’ll talk about today, I’ll see all of you on Friday. Have a great week and May Your Heart Be Your Guiding Key!

I Finished Kingdom Hearts 3!

Hi friends, I’ve done it, I’ve finished Kingdom Hearts 3 today! It took 26ish hours in-between work and sleep over the last two weeks, but I’m glad I played it. The ending, wow, not completely happy with it, but I don’t hate it. It’s obviously not the end of the series (way too many things unanswered and new questions came up). I’m looking forward to the continuing story, though for now it will continue in Kingdom Hearts Union x (KHUx). In watching some of the Japanese translated story quests (they’re a bit ahead of the international version) and we learn more about some of the members of the Organization’s somebodies. I watched it on Everglow’s channel.  He has all of the story quests from KHUx and a Kingdom Hearts timeline episodes.  I have many thoughts about the KH3 story, but I’ll wait to talk about it until Monday when I have had more time to take it all in.

It didn’t read much this week because of that and work, but I did read some things. I finished rereading Harry Potter and the Stargate and reading Harry Potter and The Chance at a New Life. The new chapters for this week are: Knight of Betrayal and Taiga Cub, Reality Bites Worm, Pain and Hatred: A Stray Devil’s Tale, Heroes Assemble!, Titanfall, Seerking’s Asylum, Ashes to Flame, Mauling Snarks, Taylor Varga (omake). I also finished my fanfiction archive with everything I’ve mentioned so far (as far as I know, I might have missed a few). Feel free to use it to find a story you like!

I read several shorter stories, but I didn’t get much as previously mentioned. The first two are from White Angel of Auralon. They’re called Older Brother and Older Brother – Tournament Trails. It’s the first and sequel of a Harry Potter story where Harry is born several years earlier. His younger brother is born around the time he would be and their grandmother and grandfather die protecting them, leaving their parents alive. It’s the story of Harry protecting his brother and his friends from Voldie and Dumbles as he goes about living his life. Both are six chapters long, but that doesn’t make them bad.

I also reread a story from sakurademonalchemist called Bonds Across Time. It’s a crossover between KHR and InuYasha where fem. Tsuna falls into another well in her hometown and ends up in the feudal era. She finds the Primo and his guardians and becomes their little sister. She eventually also meets Kagome and the crew. It’s a good story, but again it’s incomplete.

The final one is another I’m rereading called Mutant Storm by Bobmin356. It’s an X-Men and Harry Potter crossover where Harry awakens his mutant powers after learning that learning the prophesy. He learns that things aren’t as they seem and feels betrayed. Jean feels his anguish from America and goes to find him. She learns that Lily was her sister (Dumbles erased her memory of her family and her family’s memories of her when she decided to go Xavior’s school). He goes with her and has to decide, is the English wizarding world really worth saving?

One finally thing I forgot to mention last post, I saw Aquaman in theaters. It’s good and I find I enjoy the solo hero DC movies than the ones about multiple heroes together. There were classic chichés in it, but that’s normal (like the kiss in the middle of the big battle). I hope there are more better DC movies and look forward to the Marvel ones over the next few months.

That was my week in a nutshell! I’ll see you on Monday and hope you have a great weekend. May Your Heart Be Your Guiding Key!
